I GRADUATED!

FOUR QUICK YEARS.

Four years of jumping out of my comfort zone, searching for the familiar and landing myself deep in the unknown. Four years of navigating freedom and getting a grasp of how far out to paddle.

Four years of bottomless quad lattes, wellness shots burning away that never-ending cold going around, and the "occasional" shot of vodka, or two, (or three). Four years of living in a single square mile of land packed with dozens of friends each living a minute away, of falling asleep to the neighbor's drunken cover of Fetty for the 3rd time that night,
and having the ocean make up for it all by waking up to the sound of the morning waves crashing onshore.

Four years of testing the limits of how much my mind could hold, the ways it held information best, the topics it held best; of figuring out what I was cut out for and where I shined the most; of embracing my weaknesses and finding ways to turn them into strengths.

Four years of Santa Barbara has taught me more about myself than I ever knew I had in me, and has instilled in me a new level of appreciation for the unknowns and unpredictables of my life. Being a first generation student and the first of my family to graduate from university (a quarter early, I might add), is a feat that turned out to be much more challenging than I expected, but a lesson that showed me I have my parent's strength. It also taught me just how much I can accomplish when I set my heart on something.

I actually had my heart set on UCSB since I was 11 years old, but truth be told, if you had asked me at the start why I had committed to the school, it was for ALL the wrong reasons. I even considered transferring out halfway through my first year. It took a little time, but all of the lessons I was learning showed me I was exactly where I needed to be.

I surprised myself with where I initially started my college career, and the actual path I ended up taking, which brought me to not only earn my Bachelor of Arts in Communication, but also turn my passions, writing and social media, into something I can use to my advantage in the professional world. The biggest lesson I learned through it all is to stop dreaming and start doing.

Four quick years, and here I am!
